Ellie Briffitt is a multi-media sculptor currently working predominantly in plaster, Jesmonite and Gesso. She is inspired by the everyday and family and she also explores the notion of materiality. Works are often smooth, with slight imperfections creating a sense of presence in the work. Absence of colour is used to convey the idea of minimal and clean environments, a reduced environment some people may find clinical or calming. Currently Briffitt is drawing on memories of her family, she has casted from real letters and recipes from family members, she is trying to navigate a beauty within grief while tying to keep a notion of order in how her work is displayed.
